The Alzheimer Society of Calgary provides free critical support services to anyone impacted by dementia in the Calgary area.
They are an information hub with:
- Registered social workers for people to talk to about community resources, caregiving strategies, etc.
- Online evidence-based education sessions and information for anyone to access
- Local support groups led by experienced facilitators who can provide support, connection, and resources
- An adult day program for people with dementia and their caregivers that provides meaningful, mentally stimulating activities and an opportunity to socialize
Due to the pandemic, all their services are offered virtually, increasing accessibility.
“I always appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with the Alzheimer Society of Calgary as a resource committed to providing holistic, genuine, patient-centred care that recognizes the uniqueness of each individual on the dementia journey, says Deanne David, a Registered Nurse with Senior Services.”
