Mental Health Support
Our centralized mental health referral service provides patients a phone consultation with a Primary Care Registered Psychologist (PCRP). The PCRP works with the patient to help them decide the best care pathway for their unique needs.
Depending on a patient’s needs, interest or readiness, and circumstances, they may be referred to psychotherapy with a PCRP (patients of Enhanced or Comprehensive members only) or to a mental health service in the community.
All referred patients are offered self-management resources following their initial consultation.
Eligibility and referrals
Pediatricians and Standard, Enhanced, and Comprehensive members can refer patients to the centralized mental health referral service.
A full list of referral reasons can be found on the Primary Care Referral Form – Mental Health.
Please complete the referral form in your EMR (or download the form) with your patient so they clearly understand the reason for referral and fax the form to 855.966.4102.
You can also reference our curated mental health community resources.
Primary Care Registered Psychologists
Our Primary Care Registered Psychologists offer short-term counselling services to referred patients of Enhanced and Comprehensive members.
They are Registered Psychologists who provide patients with 30- to 50-minute sessions and address a broad scope of mental health needs.
This program accepts both minor (typically 12 years old and up) and adult patients.
Patients are referred using the Primary Care Referral Form – Mental Health. This form is best filled out with the patient, ensuring they clearly understand the reasons for their referral.
For pediatric patients, a direct referral to The Summit — for patients living in west Calgary — or Eastside Community Mental Health Services — for patients living in east Calgary — is recommended.
