Effective Nov. 30, anyone in Canada can call or text 988 if they need immediate mental health crisis and suicide prevention intervention. Based on their work on Talk Suicide Canada, the federal government asked the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) to lead the implementation of 988.

The Alberta Lung Cancer Screening Program (ALCSP) is available for patient referrals until March 2024. The impact of this program has already been felt by our community, with eight referred patients being diagnosed with previously undetected lung cancer.

On Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 10 a.m., Choosing Wisely Canada is hosting a one-hour webinar about the updated 2023 PEER simplified lipid guidelines for primary care.

The Enhanced Lipid Reporting (ELR) screening initiative was created by the Cardiovascular Health & Stroke Strategic Clinical Network. When sending patients for lipid-based blood tests, adding the ELR screen is a quick and simple addition.
