CanREACH educates and empowers primary care providers to make and sustain evidence-based practice changes in pediatric mental health; transforming practices, increasing productivity, and improving work satisfaction.

CanREACH delivers the mini-fellowship Continuing Medical Education (CME) course, Patient-Centered Mental Health in Pediatrics Primary Care Program, developed by The REACH Institute that consists of both:

  • Conference: A dynamic and interactive two-day (15-hour) course that combines teaching with hands-on practice
  • Clinical application: A series of 12 one-hour case-based clinical consultation sessions, translating knowledge to practice

The next session is September – December:

  • Virtual workshop: Sept. 13 – 14 followed by three months of weekly case consults
  • Registration fee: $800

Participants develop confidence and competence as they learn to:

  • Identify and differentiate among pediatric mental health concerns
    • Anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar, aggression, psychosis, and more
  • Effectively utilize and manage psychopharmacology
    • Selecting, initiating, titrating, monitoring, and tapering medication; identifying, minimizing, and managing side effects
  • Create and implement effective treatment plans
    • Collaborating and communicating; mobilizing existing natural and professional resources

Eligibility: Registration and participation in the CanREACH mini-fellowship training is restricted to Primary Care Providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, etc.) residing and practicing in Alberta.
