Specialist Link: Connecting you to specialists

Collaboration is key, which is why our PCN helps connect members with Specialist Link and stay up to date on the service that supports family physicians in caring for their patients and helps improve communication and collaboration between primary and specialty care.

We share updates about Specialist Link in the Examiner and Calgary Zone e-newsletters. Our goal is to keep our members updated on the most helpful tools — like Specialist Link — and support systems so they can concentrate on what’s most important: Their patients.

Developed through a partnership between the seven local PCNs and AHS, Specialist Link offers:

• Real-time tele-advice from specialists with calls or online requests returned within one hour
• Clinical care pathways specific to the Calgary Zone that represent evidence-based best practice
• Other resources to support family physicians seeking support for their patients

Two options to request tele-advice:

1. Visit Specialist Link’s homepage, select the needed specialty, and enter your information
2. Call 403.910.2551 or toll-free at 1.844.962.5465 (a call tree is on the tele-advice information web page you can use to skip the automated message)
