Our PCN is committed to supporting your patients’ mental health care through our Mental Health Program.
A key component of the program is our team of Primary Care Registered Psychologists (PCRPs), who support patients through the program’s intake process.
During the intake process, a PCRP will speak with your patient to help them determine which referral pathway would be best for their circumstances.
This may include referring to a community resource, providing self-management resources, or scheduling an appointment with a PCRP (where one is assigned).
Some complex conditions may require a referral to a community resource that is able to provide specialized treatment options for the patients. These conditions could include:
- Eating disorders
- Psychosis/schizophrenia
- Addictions
In these cases, a direct referral to an appropriate public health (e.g., AHS or Recovery Alberta) or community resource may be in the best interest of your patient.
