Feature: Freshen up on the Access Appointment Service ahead of the holidays

Historically, the holidays bring an increase in referrals to the Primary Care Centre’s Access Appointment Service.

Please help the Primary Care Centre team by:

• Reviewing the inclusion-exclusion criteria that were informed by physicians working at the Primary Care Centre and our Medical Director
• Using the current referral form and including detailed information on the form
• Sharing this information with your clinic’s staff

You know your patients, have their medical records, and are the best option in most circumstances — but you can’t be available every day of the year.

So, for 365 days a year, our Access Appointment Service:

• Supports you and your patients with appointments when you can’t see them, but medical care is needed within 24 hours
• Faxes a summary of the visit to the family physician after the appointment
• Acts as an alternative to walk-in clinics and the emergency department (for non-emergency needs)

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays (Christmas on Monday, Dec. 25, Boxing Day on Tuesday, Dec. 26, and New Year’s Day on Monday, Jan. 1).
