Community partner spotlight: Virtual chronic pain program

The Alberta Virtual Chronic Pain Program (AVCPP) delivers quality non-pharmacological chronic pain care across the province through a group education treatment program over Zoom.

AVCPP offers:

  • Centralized nurse-led, Health Link phone line for patient intake and system navigation support
  • A one-hour virtual group pain education and self-management session led by trained clinical facilitators from AHS each week for six weeks
  • A one-hour peer support group session each week for six weeks
  • The opportunity for patients to connect with others living with pain
  • Periodic peer support follow-up for 12 months post-completion of the program

Eligibility:

  • Adult Albertans experiencing consistent pain for longer than three months (formal diagnosis not required)
  • Comfortable understanding English or has someone who could help them when attending a group session
