The Alberta Healthy Living Program – Calgary Zone (AHLP) has created a one-pager to clarify the differences between their two Better Choices, Better Health workshops:
- The chronic disease workshop often appeals to individuals who live with any chronic health condition, including prediabetes/diabetes, breathing conditions, osteoporosis, heart conditions, pain, mental health concerns, and others.
- The chronic pain workshop often appeals to individuals who live with chronic pain or fatigue due to conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraines, and others.
Differences in the two curriculums:
- The chronic disease curriculum includes self-talk and self-compassion, better breathing, preventing falls and improving balance, healthy eating (general), physical activity and exercise, and reading food labels (more in-depth coverage).
- The chronic pain curriculum includes pain and the brain, gentle exercise program for pain, healthy eating for pain, pacing and time management, communicating about pain, creating pain diaries, and worst-case thinking.
Please consider downloading the one-pager for yourself or your patients.
