Our PCN is offering members the opportunity to complete eligible Heart & Stroke certifications and apply for reimbursement for their efforts.
To provide members with greater flexibility and more development opportunities, eligible life-support courses can be completed anytime between Monday, April 7 and Friday, Aug. 29:
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) taken in Alberta are eligible for reimbursement.
- Members can register for reimbursement and then — upon receiving confirmation of funding — register for a course on a date of their choosing between Monday, April 7 and Friday, Aug. 29.
- Heart & Stroke offers many dates to choose from for blended and in-person courses in Alberta.
- Spots are limited, so apply for reimbursement before they’re gone.
All members can sign up for reimbursement, but the funding is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. It is unavailable if you have been or will be paid by another source for the course, or if the course is completed after Friday, Aug. 29.
Maximum reimbursement available per certification, including GST, for course fees and materials:
- BLS: $100
- ACLS or PALS: $300
Not eligible for repayment: Cancellation or rebooking fees, transportation costs, and expenses such as food or parking.
To be eligible for reimbursement, you must:
- Apply for reimbursement funding: Sign up for reimbursement and include the hyperlink to the Heart & Stroke course for which you wish to be reimbursed.
- Do not register for your course before receiving confirmation from the PCN.
- You will receive an email confirming you have reserved reimbursement funding.
- Register for your course: Once you receive the funding confirmation email, register through Heart & Stroke’s website and pay for the course.
- Complete your course: Courses must be completed between Monday, April 7 and Friday, Aug. 29.
- Submit documentation for reimbursement: To receive reimbursement, provide the course receipt and proof of completion to our PCN by Friday, Aug. 29.
