The Alberta Lung Cancer Screening Program (ALCSP) team is happy to share they have reached their goal of receiving 3,800 eligible referrals to the pilot program.
As of Tuesday, Oct. 1, referrals to the program though primary care providers or self-referral will no longer be accepted.
For patients already enrolled in the program, or who enroll in the pilot’s final spots, they will:
- See no change to their care or their ability to receive low-dose CT scans
- Continue with annual and early recall screening, if applicable
AHS is exploring the possibility of offering lung cancer screenings in 2025 and beyond. Further details are expected in April 2025 — we will share any updates as we receive them.
The ALCSP team thanks you for your participation in the pilot project — your involvement was critical to its success.
