On Monday, Sept. 30, our PCN will be closed in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The Primary Care Centre will be open its regular holiday hours: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Public commemoration of the tragic history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process and one of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s 94 calls to action.
We have shared education and support resources with our teams throughout September that you may find useful, such as:
- The Unforgotten, a 36-minute film created to raise awareness, incite reflection, and spark conversations about how to make meaningful change happen in health care for Indigenous Peoples, and its accompanying toolkit
- The University of Alberta’s free, online course called Indigenous Canada
- Year-round virtual and in-person events hosted by the University of Calgary and the Calgary Public Library
The AMA also has a resource guide for community physicians with actions to take and resources for you.
