Listeria clinical guidance

A clinical guidance memo has been published following a national listeria outbreak, which has been linked to plant-based beverages.

The most at-risk individuals for serious infection are:

• Neonates
• People over 60
• Pregnant people
• Those who are immunosuppressed

Recommended approach to those exposed to recalled products:

• Asymptomatic: No testing; counsel on symptoms
• Symptomatic with risk factors: Blood cultures, possible stool testing, and consider empiric treatment
