Wellspring Calgary is a charitable organization that offers programs to meet the emotional, social, and practical needs of people living with cancer, their caregivers, and their families across southern Alberta.

Wellspring Calgary has two centres in Calgary and a full range of programs offered online and by phone. All programs are evidence-informed and provided free of charge and without a referral.

“My family has been impacted by a cancer diagnosis and we have utilized some of the programs offered through Wellsprings,” says Angela Fischer, a CWC PCN Social Worker. “Their facility is warm and welcoming, and the staff are caring and compassionate. The support they provide was pivotal in getting my loved one through their cancer journey (particularly the programs that promote healthy self-care) and I would not hesitate to recommend this organization to my professional or personal contacts.”

There are four program categories:

  • Educational with information, strategies, and tools to live well with cancer, such as programs on employment and financial matters
  • Movement and meditation programs featuring physical and mental activities, such as yoga, bird watching, and meditation
  • Self-care offerings to connect with others and learn to care for oneself, including programs on nutrition, an Indigenous cancer sharing circle, and a caregivers’ workshop
  • Expressive arts where people can escape cancer for a few hours by expressing themselves via art, music, journaling, or gardening

Eligibility

  • Any adult living with any type of cancer, at any point in their journey, including post-treatment
  • Caregivers of those living with cancer
