Skipping Stone connects trans and gender-diverse youth, adults, and families to the supports and services they need and deserve.

They have many free programs for anyone looking to affirm, explore, or are questioning a non-cisgender gender identity — as well as their families and support systems.

One-on-one support (three- to four-week wait):

  • Community Coaching: Their team of community support staff provide opportunities to share, process thoughts, and explore options and resources.
  • Peer Mentor Program: This six-month program matches trans youth, parents, or caregivers with a mentor from the community who shares lived experience.
  • Gender Affirming Gear: Information on sizing and where to purchase gender affirming gear with the option to book an appointment for additional help.

System navigation (three- to four-week wait):

  • Affirming Health Care: A collaboration with healthcare providers to link patients with affirming physicians, hormone therapy, gender-affirming surgeries, and injection teaching.
  • Fundamental Needs: Guidance for accessing government and non-profit services, such as income support or food and housing programs.
  • Name/Gender Marker Changes: Comprehensive guide for trans and gender-diverse people to ID amendments and a monthly opportunity for one-on-one guidance.

Skill-building programs (two- to three-month wait):

  • DBT Skills Group: A 10-week program facilitated by registered mental health providers that teaches skills and provides an opportunity to practice coping strategies.
  • Top Surgery Support Group: A confidential, open space to share lived experiences rather than medical advice for anyone 16 and over who is considering or planning chest reduction, reconstruction, or mastectomy-type surgeries.
  • Voice Classes: A series of eight one-hour virtual group classes with a voice coach for people looking to connect with their full range.
  • Expressions Program: People express themselves how they want and learn about style and wardrobe, hair and makeup, and general grooming and hygiene.

Skipping Stone also has community programs with no wait time: the arts- and activity-based virtual Queer Classroom for ages 11 – 17 and groups for trans folks, youth, children, and friends and family.
