The Way In

The Way In is a collaboration of Calgary-based agencies dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and access to services and support for vulnerable older adults and their families at no cost.

Their outreach workers will provide information and connect people (with their consent) to the services and resources they need to age with dignity and in the right place, including:

  • Information and referrals
  • Assistance with forms for pensions, benefits, transportation, and housing
  • Caregiver support
  • Access to volunteer supports
  • Elder abuse intervention and support
  • Commissioner for Oaths
  • Assessment and case management
  • Group activities and workshops

They will connect with older adults in their own homes or in convenient community locations.

The Way In’s total intakes rose by 34 per cent in 2021. They are comprised of carya, JFSC, Calgary Seniors Resource Society, and Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens’ Association.

Eligibility

Individuals over the age of 65 living in the City of Calgary.

Referral Process

  • Health professionals can bookmark and use The Way In’s online referral form to refer patients.
  • Anyone can call 403.SENIORS (403.736.4677) for information and support or to be connected to an outreach worker.

Wait Time

Participants are contacted within two weeks of a referral, depending on the service area.
